Welcome to my blog!

So, I've had a few blogs before, and they've usually gotten one or two posts before I gave up on them.

No longer. This one's for keeps. As I get older, and get more into my journalism career, I've found that certain things are more interesting to write about than others. For instance, writing about a top-25 basketball team playing 8 mid-majors in a row (I'm looking at you, Cincinnati) and beating them all soundly doesn't merit much in terms of interesting reading material.

What I've found IS interesting, however, is statistics, especially when it comes to anything sports. Statistics, if you think about it, is a field with nearly limitless potential when it comes to sports--every play, every action, serves as a data point, a place with which we can start comparing to other data points, and gain some sort of information that hadn't been seen before. That's the goal of this blog: to give people a different way to see some things.

Some of the posts are going to be interesting statistical anomalies from recent games, while others are going to be longer-term research things I'll do in my spare time, all with the idea of using statistics to tell us something interesting about the world we live in, and in the sports world in general. If you have anything you want me to research, drop me a comment and if it's a good idea I'll see what I can find!
